Nutrition

Nutrition. A word that is pounded into our heads as very important. After all, it is in fact, very important and it is important to learn about the topic from a young age. One thing I was always taught from a young age, was how to eat heathly. As, I grew older, I learned how lucky I really was to have that in my head as second nature. To this day, I drive my friends and fiance crazy trying to make every meal balanced. I now know, how rare being taught nutrition really is, especially as I see most of my generation struggling with obesity. Now of days, children in America, have a better chance to learn nutrition because it is more widely taught. This is a subject I am very passionate about, and wanted to learn more.

America is not the only place trying to educate children more on healthy eating. In England, the standards of nutrition in school lunches continues to be improved. In 2008 and in 2009 they raised the standards of what nutrients needed to be in kids lunches. Obesity is also an issue in England, and they want to nip it in the bud so future generations do not have these issues.

I found it really interesting that England's view on nutrition is not much different from ours. Even in the article I was reading, the facts and thought process did not seem far from ours. I found it really interesting that this is a worldwide issue. In the future this has inspired me to want to make sure every child has the knowledge they need to be healthily eaters so obesity is not even a word future generations know. This way children can live fuller lives with out the health problems and struggles that obesity can bring on.

Hey check out this website if you want more info on nutrition in England:

  1. Obese is a topic that needs to be shared at every job and within every classrooms but it is kind of crazy to me that schools claim to be concerned with health and they still sell chips and candy during the lunch hours in the cafeteria (in some schools)..I think that we should be better informed on nutrition and do a better job at administering that information to our children.

  2. Obesity is a growing concern in the lives of children and families and sharing information with children about living a healthy lifestyle not only in their nutritional habits but also in their daily exercise is especially important. I think it is great that more people around the world are working to give children healthy habits early on.
