Hello All!!
What a fun and crazy week it has been!!! I am in a great mood because I am getting married in two weeks I am so excited!!! I am also very excited to dive into the subject of research in the early childhood field just a little deeper.
I decided out of our two awesome choices, the option I would like to choose is option number two. If I could research any topic in our field what would it be? I would research autism in children of a young age. I use to work for a family as a nanny with a child with autism, I went to school with him to help out his teachers. I had to fight for him a lot for him to be recognized as a human being and not as his disability. So autism is something that is close to my heart. I would love to research ways to make it easier for them to communicate. I believe that this would be very positive because it would open a whole new door to the families.
Luckily for these families research such as this is already being done in reality. I just saw a great video about a girl with autism and her story. You should check it out!!

Have a great week !!
Wonderful that you could advocate for a young child. Maybe it is my background in special education, but I personally do not see labeling children as a negative. I see it as a way to obtain services and simply guide people in the right direction to get help. However, I have personally seen educators (and parents) see the label and judge the child. It is important to see people as human beings and help guide all people in the right direction to gain skills. Great post!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Hailey! What an inspiring video! It brought me to tears. I hope that many autistic children can be helped to communicate in this way. Videos like this remind us that people with disabilities are just people with different struggles. We all have an important place in society, and we all have something positive to contribute to the world. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHailey, it is a great idea that your interest is doing research on autism. I feel this would be very rewarding to children and families that are faced with this problem. Good luck with that and congratulation on your up coming Wedding date.
ReplyDeleteHailey,
DeleteCongratulation on your upcoming wedding. I am sure you are getting more and more excited as the day draws nearer. I think you have made a good topic to research on. Your passion and experience with challenges that children with autism face will go along way to inspire you throughout the process.
Best of luck.
