International Research...

I choose the Early Childhood Australia to explore more in-depth.

I then decided I would answer the questions in more of an interview form.

What are some current research topics in Australia?

On this site I found many research topic.  Some topics I found:

  • Quality more important then cost
  • Ways to minimize stress in a child's first year
  • Studies on Austism
  • The importance of a healthy life style
What insight did you gain from this site?

I learned that no matter how far apart Australia is from America we are both fighting for similar things in the early childhood field. All of the topics I listed in the first question is topics we worry about here in America. Discovering how much we are all really alike is important, because it helps us see how badly we all need to work together.

What other noteworthy things did you find on this website?

Everything on this website seems to be relevant to me. I believe constantly researching this sight will help me grow in our field. One article I found really interesting was about the top ten books that will engage children in reading. You should check it out:

And why you are there just check out the whole site! It is great!

  2. I think it's interesting that we both chose the same web site, but we were drawn to different things. I totally agree with you that Australia and the U.S. have similar concerns in the field of early childhood. I also found it fascinating that Early Childhood Australia is fighting for the rights of refugee and aboriginal/Torres Strait children also. I looked at NAEYC's site to see what their stand was on immigrants, but I didn't see anything. They had several position statements on diversity but none specifically on the rights of refugee or immigrant children. I wonder why not considering the debates in this country about illegal immigrants?

  3. Hailey, I too would be interested in going on this website and reading about this particular topic. All around the world we live in different parts of the country, but yet we share the same values, and that is working toward a continuous journey to help better the lives of children and families in the early childhood field.
