A story!!

There are many events that help one to decide to go into the field of early childhood. As I have said many times before, I can tell countless stories. But I would like to share one that just happened.

I am a nanny. That is how I pay to live and study. I just switched to a new family because the family before this one is moving. Anyways, to say that less confusing, I use to nanny for a family with triplet two year olds.

So on my last day working with this family one of the little boys was laying on the couch with his blanket. I knew he was sleepy, but I had enough experience with multiples to know that I could not just lay him down by himself because he would never sleep knowing the others were still awake. I also knew that if the other two were wide awake, they would keep him up. So I decided to try to wake him up just long enough for him to sleep with the other two. He has this blanket, which he loves, and will not part with. We joke and call him Linus after the beloved charter from Snoopy. Anyways, I take his blankie and start joking with him that it is mine. He laughs and tries to steal it back. I say something about not being able to nap without it. That is when he pushes me over (to make me lay down) covers me with his blanket and then takes a corner and lies down next to me. He shared instead of claiming it as his own.

The sweetness that he showed is why I want to work with children of a young age. I want to preserve this kindness and not let it be made fun of or taken away. I believe this world would be a much better place if we were just taught that kindness is the way to get ahead not meanness or what not.

Just a quick story I wanted to share!
